Domaine Thenard was founded to mark the occasion of marriage of Paul Thenard into the Yvon family, a family with a long history in Givry. The domaine comprises a total area of 21.5 hectares, gathering 10 different appellations. They also own 2 blocks in the 7.9 hectares (4 hectares on the Puligny side and 3.9 on the Chassagne side) Montrachet vineyard on the Chassage side, which extends over 1.83 hectares. The first parcels of Givry were bought in 1760 and the Montrachet plot was bought in 1872. The current storehouse representative is Jean-Baptiste Bordeaux Montrieux and his son. Born in Chalon sur Saone in 1959, Jean-Baptiste studied agriculture and winemaking, then worked at Domaine Thenard while working as General Manager of Remoissenet P&F from 1987 to 2005.
