Made by the Zalto Glasshutte in the town of Neunagelberg, northwest of Vienna, the Zalto range of premium glassware features wine-specific red wine glasses (bordeaux and burgundy), as well as an elegant ‘universal’ wine glass, a champagne flute, a sweet wine glass, carafes, decanters, and spirit and water glasses.
With perfectly executed balance and extraordinary design, each feather-light Zalto item distinguishes itself from the first touch. The tradition of glass blowing in this part of Austria dates to the early 14th century, and today all Zalto wine glasses continue to be individually mouth-blown using the finest lead-free crystal (produced without the addition of lead oxide, the glasses are more resistant to clouding). The curves of the bowls are tilted at precise angles that are said to improve flavour: 24°, 48°, and 72°, which are in accordance with the tilt angles of the earth. The ancient Greeks and Romans utilised this triumvirate with their supply repositories, finding that produce stayed fresh for a longer time, and also showed improved taste. Due to these cosmic parallels, wine is said to reach its utmost potential in a Zalto glass. Durable and dishwasher safe.
