For four generations the Mondavi family, headed by the late, legenday Robert Mondavi, has crafted world-class wines in California. In 1999, Michael Mondavi (son of Robert) purchased the 15-acre Animo vineyard in Atlas Peak, Napa Valley, marking the first chapter of the Michael Mondavi Family Estate, a heritage-driven portfolio of artisanal wines.
Atlas Peak's stony, volcanic terroir yields structured cabernet sauvignon grapes from a temperate, high elevation zone. The site soars above the fog that regularly blankets the southern reaches of the valley. Michael and his family employ an organic, natural approach to the vineyard, with deep respect for its unique attributes. It is farmed sustainably and certified Napa Green.
An outstanding wine with voluminous layers and an exciting aromatic profile, the Animo cabernet sauvignon brilliantly showcases its intrinsic mountain fruit harvested at optimal ripeness. The volcanic soils contribute minerality and freshness. Delightful in its youth, it will continue to evolve gracefully for many years to come.
