Cakebread Cellars was founded in 1973 by Jack and Dolores Cakebread and is situated atop the famed Rutherford Bench in the heart of Napa Valley. More than forty harvests later it remains family-owned and one of the most respected producers in California, renowned for gracious hospitality, world-class vineyards, and some of the best wines produced in America today.
With a commitment to sustainability and a laser focus on fruit and terroir expression, the estate draws grapes from its diverse vineyard holdings - 50 acres of vines surround the home winery and there are a further 600 acres on 14 different sites in both Napa Valley and to the north in Mendocino County. The jewel in the crown is perhaps Dancing Bear Vineyard, high on the slopes of Howell Mountain with spectacular views of Napa Valley far below.
The belief that life is elevated by good people, good food, and good wine flows through everything the Cakebread family does. They have recently opened a slick new 46,000 square foot Visitors' Center - a project 20 years in the planning and two years in construction, it offers lush spaces and an unparalleled view into how the iconic Cakebread Cellar wines are made. Cakebread’s style is classic Napa Valley and reflects the terroir of each special site. From rich dusty Rutherford Reds to the deeply structured vibrancy of Howell Mountain blends these are wines to both savour and cellar.
