Boutique Left Bank producer Château Peyredon Lagravette is situated in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux. Owned by the Holstein family for two centuries, it was purchased in 2009 by Stéphane and Laurence Dupuch (of Château Sainte Marie). The 4.2-hectare estate straddles the border of the Moulis and Listrac appellations and sits with prestigious neighbours upon the famed Grand Poujeaux hill. The warm site is an exceptional terroir, prized for its well-draining gravel terraces which provide the ideal growing conditions for cabernet sauvignon.
With large plantings of old vines, Château Peyredon Lagravette is organically farmed, and each parcel of vines is vinified separately. Aged for 12-14 months in barrels made of oak sourced from the forest adjoining the estate, the wine - a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot - is traditional in style. Aromaticly complex, with a nose of blackberry, raspberry, and a hint of orange zest, on the palate it is rich, velvety, and round with blackberry, black cherry, and chocolate. Beautifully balanced, with elegant tannins and a long finish, it also has excellent aging potential.
