Sebastien Bobinet is the eighth generation of a family of winemakers to farm the land at this estate in Dampierre-sur-Loire, located in the Saumur region of the Loire Valley. He established the domaine in 2002, taking over just 1.8 hectares of vines and a cellar from his grandparents. The domaine has since grown to 4 hectares.
In 2011, Sebastian’s partner Emeline Calvez, a trained Sommelier, joined him at the domaine. They tend their vineyards on the banks of the Loire according to principles of organic agriculture, following a moral logic and respect for the environment to promote healthy, living soils. It is a labor-intensive approach, but one that brings the finest results.
Chenin Blanc, grown on chalky Tuffeau soils, is the focus for their white wines, whilst Cabernet Franc (with a supporting cast of Grolleau and Pineau d’Aunis) defines the reds. Vinified in the most natural way possible, avoiding the use of chemicals and harsh machinery, these wines are true and pure expressions of the Saumur region.
