Located in Tain l’Hermitage, Domaine Les Alexandrins was founded in 2009 by two friends, viticulturalist Alexandre Caso (a specialist in the terroirs of the Northern Rhône Valley) and winemaker Guillaume Sorrel, (son of Marc Sorrel of the Sorrel Estate in Hermitage). In 2015, they partnered with Nicolas Jaboulet, the sixth generation of one of the most famous winemaking families in the northern Rhône. Every year, the trio produce two superb wines in the classic tradition of the Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellations.
The domaine’s vineyards feature some very old vines: 70 years+ in the case of the Crozes- Hermitage plots and 90 years for the Saint-Joseph. The land is sustainably farmed with great respect for the terroir, and the soils worked to encourage biodiversity, with biodynamics practiced. Both wines are made in a traditional manner at the newly built Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins winery. They are concentrated, layered, and complex expressions of their respective terroirs, with excellent cellaring potential.
