Built as a hunting lodge for a Florentine noble family in the 16th-century, this remarkable 350-hectare estate lies amid the rolling hills of Tuscany above the medieval town of Figline Valdarno. It was purchased in 1999 by power couple Sting and Trudie Styler who have lovingly renovated the villa its guesthouses, vineyards and olive groves.
Wine has been harvested, fermented, and bottled at Il Palagio since the mid-1500s. With a massive investment in the reinvigoration of the vineyards, 11 hectareshave been replanted and are farmed organically and biodynamically, yielding six beguiling blends: four sangiovese-forward reds, one predominantly vermentino white, and Beppe Rosato, the estate’s first rosé.
Vibrant and self-sustaining, the estate also makes olive oil from the groves that have have graced its landscape for many hundreds of years and have now been sensitively restored to full productivity. The extra-virgin, cold-pressed oil is exceptional - low in acidity, but rich in depth. With a working apiary and indigenous bee colony, Il Palagio also produces a wide selection of remarkable flavoured honeys.
