Champagne Lafalise Froissart is located in the heart of Verzenay, home to some of the greatest Pinot Noir in the Montagne de Reims. Established in 1885 as a small family vineyard, it was destroyed in WWII but painstakingly reconstructed. Today it is in the hands of the sixth generation, headed by Paul Froissart.
The vineyards are comprised of 5-hectacres in the two Grand Cru villages of Verzenay and Verzy. Sitting on a variety of soils and subsoils, each of the plots, with their varied geological compositions, imparts its own personality on the resulting wines. Pinot Noir accounts for 80% of the plantings. It is supremely elegant with a unique aroma – limestone brings finesse and freshness, clay brings roundness. The geological influence is also seen in the Chardonnay, which is more rounded than elsewhere in Champagne.
Paul Froissart has a deep understanding of and respect for the role of the vineyards’ soils, prioritising their health with natural, sustainable, earth-friendly farming techniques. The estate is both organic and biodynamic certified.
These are age-worthy, elegant, and precise parcel-based wines of exceptional-quality, produced in very limited quantities.
