Established in 1971 by John and Marli Middleton, Mount Mary is an iconic single-vineyard estate located in the heart of the Yarra Valley east of Melbourne, in the state of Victoria. It was one of the first vineyards planted in the resurgence of the Yarra Valley as a premium wine producing region. Today, Mount Mary has 40 acres under vine on its gentle north-facing slope, planted to 18 varieties. The estate strives for a robust viticultural system, with a strong focus on sustainable practices and philosophies, and is moving towards organic protocols. Use of machinery in the vineyard is limited. One of the great small wineries of Australia, Mount Mary handcrafts wines in tiny quantities. All are made from estate-grown fruit and are produced and bottled on site. The wines are comprised of two blends traditionally grown and made in Bordeaux (Quintet and Triolet) and two varieties traditionally grown and made in Burgundy (Pinot noir and Chardonnay). These are premium wines of rare finesse and purity, characterized by elegance and distinction, with exceptional aging and cellaring potential - highly sought after by collectors.
