Peter Michael Winery was founded in California in 1983 by Sir Peter Michael and his wife Margaret with the aim of crafting limited-production bottlings in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux from small, mountainside vineyards. Today, Peter Michael Winery boasts more than 200 acres of prime vineyards in Sonoma County and Napa Valley. The estate makes fifteen wines in four varietal categories. All are site-driven, single vineyard bottlings crafted by hand in limited quantities. Peter Michael's vineyard in the Knights Valley AVA, Sonoma County, sits at an elevation reaching as high as 610m above sea level. The result is cooler growing temperatures, which allows for wines in the more restrainedOld World style. All the Peter Michael vineyards are managed sustainably with minimally invasive methods and hand-farming techniques that include organic and biodynamic practices. The resulting, highly acclaimed wines are exquisite - light and supremely elegant.
