Producing world-renowned Vouvray wines, Domaine Sylvain Gaudron has been family-owned since the 1890s. Situated in Vernou sur Brenne in the Loire Valley, the estate is today headed by 4th generation Gilles Gaudron who excels in crafting exceptional Vouvrays in dry, sweet, still and sparkling expressions, all with intense, pure fruit characters and great finesse.
The historic estate encompasses 27 hectares of Chenin Blanc vineyards, the majority with vines of at least 30 years in age. All are planted on a limestone-clay soil over a sub-layer of tuffeau, the elegant, pale stone used to build the beautiful Châteaux for which the region is famous and which defines the appellation.
Gilles deftly upholds the Gaudron tradition of excellence, ensuring hand-harvesting, whole bunch pressing and slow fermentation using indigenous yeasts, resulting in extraordinary yet approachable wines that can age for up to 50 years.
