Hecht & Bannier was established in 2002 by Gregory Hecht and Francois Bannier with the aim of producing - under a single brand - benchmark examples of wines from all the major appellations of Roussillon, Languedoc and Provence. At the forefront of a revolution in quality in these diverse appellations, every bottle in their unique portfolio is a quintessential expression of its region and terroir, marrying typical Mediterranean strength with balance and crispness.
Gregory and Francois have an extensive knowledge of their region’s vineyards, visiting hundreds of growers every year. From Côtes du Roussillon Villages to Languedoc Red to Côtes de Provence Rosé, all offering in their range are typically based on meticulous blending from 5-10 different parcels considered to be of exceptional quality. The blends are then vinified for two years in large, traditional “Demi Muids” (600L) wooden barrels that ensure preservation of fruit quality and impart “resistance” to the wines, allowing them to age well. A little of each wine is also aged in neutral concrete vats to focus the expression of fruit. One of the most exciting projects in southern France of recent times.
