Established in 1830 by Guillaume Roulot, the wines of Domaine Roulot in Meursault are today among the most sought after in all of Burgundy. The domaine is run by Jean-Marc Roulot, son of the late legendary producer Guy Roulot, who carried his family’s small-production domaine to stardom. Through purchases and by marriage to Geneviève Coche (of Meursault's celebrated Coche family) Guy increased the domaine's collection of choice villages parcels, bottling them separately to showcase their singular personalities.
Guy’s sudden death in 1982, aged 53, left the domaine in transition - his son, Jean-Marc was just 26, pursuing an acting career in Paris, and reluctant to take over the family business. However, other winemakers carefully stewarded the estate, and in 1989 Jean-Marc returned to Meursault to take up the reins. His success in fine-tuning Domaine Roulot’s stand-out style has earned him a reputation as one of the region’s finest winemakers - these are exceptional Meursaults.
Jean-Marc practices organic farming and upholds the Roulot tradition of championing the diversity of the domaine’s varied terroirs, with his wines clearly illuminating the differences between the many vineyard sites. Bright and vivid, they are some of the purest, most complex Meursaults and lend themselves to long-aging.
