Located in the heart of McLaren Vale, South Australia, Wirra Wirra Vineyards was established in 1894. Nestled among gum trees and surrounded by vines, it is a picturesque ironstone winery with historic cellars. Here, winemaker Paul Smith and his team craft rich, textured McLaren Vale reds and stunning cool-climate whites.
Run following biodynamic principles, the McLaren Vale home vineyard of over 20 hectares is planted in red varietals and boasts a large quantity of old vines. Premium white grapes are sourced from a select band of growers in the Adelaide Hills, a cooler-climate grape growing region, to make the estate’s award-winning sauvignon blanc, riesling and chardonnay.
With a focus on preserving fruit purity and vineyard expression, there is a common theme of ‘letting the fruit shine’ running through the Wirra Wirra winemaking philosophy. Best known for the iconic “Church Block” red blend, all the Wirra Wirra wines are wonderfully site-expressive, bright and lively in the glass.
