Located in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie hills, high above the town of Ampuis and the Rhone River, the iconic Domaine Jamet sits on a plateau known as ‘Le Vallin’ with a fabulous view of Mont Blanc. Owner, Jean-Paul Jamet, learned his craft in the local vineyards, starting at age 16 in 1976 at the side of his father, Joseph. Today, Jean-Paul works the family domaine with his wife, Corinne, and their eldest son, Loïc, producing tiny quantities of highly nuanced, exceptionally complex Côte-Rôtie.
The domaine owns an enviable collection of incredibly diverse vineyard parcels, spread across the best sites in the appellation - extreme, treacherously terraced plots that are worked painstakingly by hand in the traditional manner. The winemaking is also traditional, and the resulting wines are pure and authentic expressions of the wide spectrum of Côte-Rôtie terroirs - deep in colour, elegant and finessed, with savory notes of licorice, black olives, violets and smoke.
